E. B. Du Bois offered a view into the lives of black Americans, conveying a literal and figurative representation of "the color line."
This week, I chat with Britt Rusert, one of the editors of the new book, W. E. B. Du Bois’s Data Portraits: Visualizing Black America, and Silas Munro, one of the book’s contributors. DuBois’ work shows up now and again in discussions about early data visualizations, and this book promises to provide a reference for those discussions.
